When I started my blog in August of 2009, I was fortunate to find a network of other moms. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that some of these moms were earning money online with their blogs.
With so many options out there, I've narrowed down my own personal list below to the ones that I have found to be legitimate, the easiest to work with, and seem the most promising.
They are also all free to join. Plus, some of the companies have referral programs so you can earn money from referring others. It's a win-win cycle.
If you have a program you'd like to refer to me or you have thoughts about the ones listed below, please send me an email. BTW - Google Ad Sense is not on my list because it is pretty widely known.

Happy earning!

* Amazon Associates: Earn referral fees advertising Amazon products using their wide selection of links, banners, widgets and storefront. I already shop with Amazon so this was an easy choice for me. Amazon has now also partnered with Blogger/Google (see Monetize tab in your Blogger Dashboard) to make it easier to be an affiliate!
They do not currently have a referral program; Amazon pays out commissions on a monthly basis for qualifying products shipped in the applicable month.

* Commission Junction: Connect with online advertisers (some very well known like e.l.f. - see banner below) and get paid for sales generated from your site. In addition to commission from sales, you can also sign up with companies that offer "lead" ads where you earn when someone simply completes a registration or sign-up.

Commission Junction does not currently have a referral program; Payout occurs at $50 in commissions.

* JuiceBoxJungle: Did you see the neat video widget in my left sidebar? You can apply to join their ad network and start earning just for having the widget on your blog. They also offer extra opportunities for commission and you never know what they will come out with next. I always enjoy the "blog fodder" JBJ provides from time to time.
Referral fee offer was made at sign-up (appreciate if you mention my blog); Payout is at $50 in commissions.

* LinkShare.com
: Gives you the benefit of partnering with 600 leading brands and participating in their advertising program. I have found a lot of great advertisers through LinkShare and I enjoy their user-friendly interface. They also offer both lead and sale commissions.

LinkShare does have a referral program; They issue four publisher payments per month.
* ProBlogger: Darren Rowse (THE ProBlogger) offers a generous 40% of all sales of his 31 Days to Build a Better Blog ebook. I am a big believer in his ebook as I have personal experience. He highly recommends that affiliates get and use his ebook to have more success in promoting it.
Currently, no referral fee; payout is made through PayPal.

* Shareasale: This is another program that works in much the same way as Commission Junction and LinkShare, offering both lead and sale commissions. I've had good luck with their lead ads thus far.
Shareasale does have a referral program that must be approved first by them; Payout is at $50 in commissions.
* Swag Bucks: This one is a little different than the rest because you earn "bucks" (instead of real dollars) for searching the web that you swap for prizes, Amazon gift cards or even PayPal cash. Where has this been all my internet searching life? I highly recommend Swag Bucks to everyone!

Swag Bucks has an excellent referral program and there is not a minimum payout.
