The Quest for WAHM Update

To ease your mind about my life changing post, I have NOT quit my day job as a desk jockey.   After many days of agonizing back and forth and a couple of resignation letter drafts later, I have concluded that reality bites!

As much as I'd love to take that job and shove it, I have a family to support and bills to pay.  Hence, I am putting my WAHM quest in full swing and giving myself a year to get things in motion.  In the meantime, I will depend on my developing patience, midday escapades, and therapy life coaching sessions to keep me going.

Task 1:  Develop a regular income stream from my blog

I was not expecting to start earning a huge amount of income from my blog right away and I am satisfied with how things have been going so far.  I'm going to hang in there for the long haul 'cause I know it's going to pay off big time down the line.  Here's a brief recap:

* Since I introduced the new ad space on my blog, I've already had some interest and a couple of sponsored posts which I am very grateful for.  I've also signed up for Sponsored Tweets and am receiving regular offers from sponsors.  I really like the prospect of being able to use Twitter in conjunction with my blog to make some extra money.

* 31 Days to Build A Better Blog has proven to be an even better investment than I had expected.  Not only did this workbook help make my blog better, but now I am able to earn  money as an affiliate by offering a product that I personally believe in.

* Google Adsense is picking up as I experiment with different ad placements. Thanks to Ms. Bibi of From Misery to Happiness for sharing the suggestions with me.

* Affiliate marketing is an area that I am also developing and currently bringing in my second highest blog revenue,  next to 31 Days.  I will update my Monetize Your Blog post as I explore different programs.

* On a related note: I am still in love with Swag Bucks! While I've earned enough Swag Bucks to trade in for $70 worth of Amazon gift cards, I will admit I've used most of them for Starbucks gift cards instead. LOL. I am such a coffee junkie, but hey the Swag Bucks are FREE. Thank you to all of my Swag Bucks friends who have signed up with me.  I hope ya'll are winning lots, too.

Task 2: Find a legitimate and decent paying work from home opportunity

I have been doing steady research on this one and have come across numerous sites, including Rat Race Rebellion.  They have lots of listings that are pre-screened, although you can never be too careful about potential scams.  And there are plenty of scams out there.

I am hoping it will help me find the legitimate and decent opportunities to make my WAHM dreams a reality.

Hubby and I have also been looking very seriously at our finances to see where we can save and pay down some debt to make the transition easier. I am not well-versed in this area, so I went out and got some help with this book: One-Income Household: How to Do a Lot with a Little.

A Little Something Extra:

While I was on Amazon ordering the books I need, I figured I would get me something I wanted.  Although, I could classify this as a need. Succulent Wild Woman by SARK came highly recommended and it's already bringing me lots of inspiration and motivation.

I am already starting to feel a sense of relief knowing that I am taking steps in the right direction, and I will have another update on my WAHM quest soon.   I am also planning a midday escapade for next week and would be grateful for suggestions you may have starting with the letter "O".

you'll get run over if you just sit there.

Happy escapes!

I'm reading backwards catching up. But the plan you have looks like a good one. As you know from ProBlogger it is a long term investment, but if you stick with it you should see a pay-off. I'm not looking for a six digit figure. I' wouldn't mind a four digit one. ;-)

I would just be happy to figure out how to work Blogger. Maybe some day I can hope for a paycheck, but until then ...

Best of luck to you though!

Woo Hoo You go girl. Keep us posted on your quest. I too work at home, but not by choice. I'm on disability, and my cousin who is a work at home mom turned me on to her job, which is transcribing. She's an MT & I can't do that, but I use to be a Legal Secretary so my typing is not bad. I type interviews & closed caption stuff. It's either feast of famine, but it does bring in a few extra dollars. Good luck my friend.

I am a WAHM/SAHM. It is tough but well worht it. Good luck with your transition. The best advice I can give you from our history is to go ahead and live on one income while you still have 2. Deposit one of your paychecks into savings and see how things go. This is a real eye opener and will help guide you on where to cut back, but give a cushion if you need it!! Good luck!!

That sounds great. I love the way you've planned and hope everything works out perfectly. Those books sounds very interesting. I would say that I should get those myself if I wasn't really way behind on my reading! Good luck and I'm looking forward to the updates.

Thanks for stopping by again this week. I actually don't have a Google Friends Follower widget. I just use Twitter. Hope that's okay! Thanks!
