Happy Meet 'n Greet Monday ya'll. It is with much delight that I introduce you to Andi who blogs about "Merry musings of a feisty foodie slash lit-chickie slash globe trotting wannabe Frenchie!" at Misadventures with Andi:
Q: What brought you to the blogging world? Two things. The first was when I first moved to Europe I used to send my friends and family long emails about my exploits. Later, a couple people suggested I should turn it into a blog, sadly I could not find anyone who had kept my emails for me to re-post and I had for some bizarre reason not saved them either.
Secondly, I was exploring my writing options. I love to write, had signed up for a creative writing class and was reading several blogs when I decided ‘why not try it out for myself?’
Q: How did you come up with your blog name? I named the emails I used from Europe to send my friends and family, “Misadventures with Andi Week 1, Week 2” etc. I was always getting into misadventures, which is pretty normal when you are trying to immerse yourself into new cultures!
Q: Do you have a favorite feature at your blog? I would have to say French Friday. I LOVE French culture, food, fashion, history, etc and to be able to share this passion with other people who actually want to read about is thrilling and I am SO thankful.
Q: Which one of your posts is a must read? Ack! Hard question! One sticks out in my mind; it is a more serious post though. It is called ROI of Relationships. I came into blogging late in life, I have only been doing it 1.5 years but it has completely changed my life and the people I have “met” while blogging have been some of the most unbelievably connected of my life.
Q: What do you attribute to your success thus far? I have been doing internet marketing for nearly 15 years, this has given me a foundation of knowledge for website design, navigation, usability, etc. I use what I have learned in my day job and try to apply or overlay that into my blog. Blogs are a slightly different beast, but many of the principles of good internet marketing can be applied.
Also, I am open to learning all the time, and more importantly, in making mistakes. I like to have a space where I can share and try things out and learn from the others around me.
Lastly, in person I am very much an introvert, but somehow online I can be much more extroverted than I would normally be in real life, it is a very strange sensation, but one I have come to thrive on.
Q: Do you have any tips to share with your fellow bloggers?
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Learn from them and move on. Don’t dwell.
Always be nice. The internet is permanent, don’t blast people, what you feel is probably momentary but what you put out on the interwebs is there forever!
Take the time to read and comment on other people’s blogs. Commenting is the largest commodity in the blogosphere and supporting each other is important.
Lastly, don’t obsess over your stats. Look at them, but don’t obsess over them.
Bonus Question: If money was not an issue, what would you be doing right now? Traveling and eating and blogging about it!
Sounds like a fantastic idea to me, Andi. Thanks for this great interview. It's no wonder I was drawn to your blog when I first discovered it. I'm your French Wannabe traveling, eating and blogging twin!
Readers, I know you will enjoy Misadventures with Andi just as much as I do. Doesn't she have just the cutest button? Tell her I said Bonjour when you visit.
Happy Monday!
