Sometimes, I can't come up with a solution to save my life.
Then, there are the other times. Like recently, when I had a flash of pure genius. Believe me, I wasn't the only one that thought so.
Then I got another thought - why not turn my idea into an [extended] escapade? After all, pretty much anything can be an escapade, right? Without further ado, and I just know ya'll are dying to find out what it is...
Following along with my Escapades from A-Z, I am tying down this escapade to the letter "U" for unexpected. So my brilliant idea was to barter with my hair stylist - she gives me a much needed cut and I work at her salon equivalent to enough hours to pay for it. And, she accepted!
So, I was expecting to answer the phone, do some sweeping, fold some towels and greet guests. Turns out, I did all of those things (and with a smile on my face because this was a welcome treat from my former desk job).
But I also got to write a press release for her and her partner to announce the opening of their new salon. I must have done a pretty good job. They have asked me to come work for them. I will be helping them out part-time until I find another permanent job.
How cool is that? An extended midday escapade resulting from a it-never-hurts-to-ask barter turns into a job opportunity. This time, the unexpected was a welcome one.

That IS cool!!
That was a really fabulous idea! Good job!
Woohoo! Sounds like a great opportunity!
I barter a lot when I babysit. One mom wears the exact same size clothes as I do and she only wears very nice, expensive brands. I trade her babysitting for clothes real often :)
Bartering is the way to go in this economy and like you said it could turn into something like a part time job.
Congrats.
It never hurts to ask in this life, does it? Kudos to you.
